Global Climate Change Week

Global Climate Change Week campaign

Client: Global Climate Change Week (Australia)
Role: Strategic advisor / design consultant

Global Climate Change Week is a climate activism campaign that promotes academic action through a coordinated, transnational public event. The project conceptualises and deploys a global campaign infrastructure and open-source communications toolkit that combines strategic brand architecture, user-interface design, and decentralised organising frameworks. The campaign undertakes a novel approach to climate activism through a multi-layered engagement strategy that invites input from academics and students, multiple forms of action - from events, teach-ins, and networking. The website was developed as an information portal where people could find out more about the campaign, and sign on to be involved. A key feature was an interactive map that allowed users to browse and connect with participants and activities in their local area. In its inaugural implementation, the campaign galvanised over 300 distinct climate initiatives across 51 countries, establishing a sustained model for design-led academic activism and transnational public engagement.
